BOOM! Comics put out an interesting vampire series called "Day Men", which I found myself wishing was a mini series or movie. Nice world building, and a nice combination of classiness and action. Cullen Bunn did a werewolf mini series for Vertigo called "Wolf Moon" that could probably be made for pretty cheap.
Mostly what comes to mind are movies that dropped into development hell. Like GDT's Mountains of Madness.
