All I can say is f*ck yes! This could potentially make up for everything after... well... ALIEN 3...

I can't wait for this!!!

Seriously, a GOLDEN Age we live in as monster fans!

-Two Godzilla series
-A new King Kong movie
-A new Jurassic Park movie with a monster dino in it
-Alien 5
-A potential Pacific Rim trilogy
-A new Gamera movie? (I don't really think this is happening anymore but I'm still including it)
-A resurrected Universal monsters universe (really the only one I care about is getting a new(AND GOOD) Creature from the Black Lagoon remake

Kind of crazy and cool that Legendary is responsible for a majority of these.

I've never been this excited for an Alien movie. Maybe when I was about to rent Aliens for the first time, but wow. Perfect choice, or at least it feels that way to me.

I like Blomkamp, and I like Aliens, so I'll be interested, but I'm over Ripley, so that tempers my excitement a little bit.

That's how I feel about the Terminator series. Forget the Conners.

I guess I am the only one that doesn't see what is so great about this. I haven't liked a single movie Neil has done and I think the time to do a direct sequel to Aliens is long gone.

i am actually picturing it bridging 2 and 3 rather than disregarding 3 and 4

I think that is just stupid. I am so tired of these studios retconning movies because they failed rather than making a sequel that fixes their failures. I would rather 3 and Res just be nightmares Ripley experienced while she was in the cryo sleep over being removed from continuity.

Blomkamp and monster movie remain the only reasons I am interested in this.

So it's not undoing 3 or 4? So then we're following Ripley 8 then for that to be true.

For it to connect to Alien and Aliens, then LV-426 would have to play a part of it as well, since besides Ripley and the Alien it's the only thing tying those two movies together (besides Weyland-Yutani who's only absent from 4).

Honestly I don't think, unless all this "he's not undoing it" stuff is crap, that the last two sequels can be ignored. Those two movies killed off then brought the main character back to life as human/xeno hybrid. That kind of stuff can't really be ignored. At least with Superman Returns it's plausible that Supes left to find Krypton after either 2 or 4 and that the two least liked movies still could be canon (And four was ! Hurhurhur!) And honestly, calling it the Superman Returns of Aliens movies doesn't help it either. So the casted villain will be wasted/underpreform, it will have one exciting action scene early on and then be a bore after that?

Although, unrelated to the rest of the production, I hope that the xeno's foreheads aren't super sloped like they have been in the last few on screen appearances.

I think he's more saying that he doesn't want to undermine 3 and 4, but he is still doing a direct sequel to Aliens...I dunno, it's a funny kinda quote.

I guess if enough time has passed it won't really matter.
Although I'm glad they aren't completely ignoring stuff, I kind of like Alien 3. (Nowhere near as much as the first two films, but still)
