What are you looking forward to most in this coming year?
My list:
1. Mad Max (A refreshingly different action film than the typical Liam Neeson style shoot'em ups that we have been getting a lot of)
2. Crimson Peak (GDT brings us a smaller film with his typically Spanish horror style in English with Jessica Chastain? Yes please)
3. James Bond: Spectre (I've really enjoyed the last three entries in this series)
4. Avengers Age of Ultron (There are some ridiculous expectations for this film, but it's Whedon so we'll all laugh and cry and love it)
5. Jurassic World (Dinosaurs.. plus i still want Jurassic Park to be real so i can go there)
6. In the Heart of the Sea (Depending on how they spread the story over the films runtime this could be great, but i really liked Ron Howard's "Rush" so i'm game)
7. Ant-Man (Despite the change in direction, this is probably the super hero i care to see more than Thor or Hulk or most of the announced Phase 3+)
8. Chappie (While not terrible, Elysium was a noteable step down from "District 9", hopefully the smaller scale here puts Blomkamp back on top)
9. Star Wars (I want this to be good, and i think it can be, expectations will be low so it will undoubtedly be a hit with the geek crowd)
10. The Hateful Eight (I really wasn't a fan of Django, but Tarantino still impresses me more often than not. Both Tarantino and Rodriguez really not to get off of the exploitation genre)

No Order:
Black Hat - First Mann in five years.
Jupiter Ascending - Will probably be the most, fun inventive space opera of the year.
Mad Max Fury Road - It looks good.
Sea of Trees - Van Sant, Mcconaughey, and Wantanabe in a creepy forest.
Jurassic World - So stupid I'm interested.
The Hateful Eight - Tarantino's Stagecoach.
Crimson Peak - I need an opulent gothic mansion film. Last solid one was WOLFMAN.
Mission Impossible V - I'm willing to bet this is going to be a better spy film than whatever the hell Mendes does with Bond.
Silence - Scorsese in Japan.
Election III - To.

Jurassic World - I love where I think this series can go from the trailer.
Crimson Peak - I always like GDT movies when they are actually coming out.
Mad Max - I think this could be the Edge of Tomorrow of 2015. Something that's different from the rest of the blockbusters and winds up being under-appreciated, but I love Edge of Tomorrow so I kinda don't care about how much other people like stuff. I just like good things.
Chappie - Elysium was a step-down for Blomkamp, but where would one expect a guy to go from District 9? Getting better would have instantly made him one of the BEST filmmakers in the world. Until Blomkamp starts making BAD movies, I'm going to be excited for anything with him attached.
The Hateful Eight - Tarantino
I'm sure I'll see Avengers and Star Wars but my level of excitement for those isn't as high as the above.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - Because I'm hoping they don't screw up given the sheer amount of crap they're stuffing into this movie.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Stur Wurs.
Crimson Peak - Because GDT ghost story

Spectre - Casino Royale thru Skyfall have all been great (Well QoS is merely okay, but it's still better than almost all of the Brosnan bonds)
Jurassic World - DINOSAURS.
Mad Max: Fury Road - Wow. This trailer looks so fun.
Ant-Man - I love Hank Pym more than Scott Lang, but I'm sort of curious to see what happens.
Victor Frankenstein - I love Frankenstein, I'm curious to see what happens.
Tomorrowland seems interesting, but I know so little about it other than who is working on it.

Crimson Peak is my most anticipated, and as a lifelong dinosaur and giant monster enthusiast I'm looking forward to Jurassic World. I suppose I'll see he next Avengers, but I'm not too excited for it. I suppose it'll be hard to avoid getting swept up with the new Star Wars film. Two original films from Pixar this year. That's certainly something to get excited about. Mad Max and Kingsmen look like they have the potential to be a whole lot of fun.
Also, I've never seen any of P.T. Anderson's movies, so I might as well start with Inherent Vice later this month. Along with that, maybe an effort to see more dramas and smaller films overall.

In no order in particular now.
Jurassic World - I love Jurassic Park. And even as low as JP3 dipped the series down into just being just a monster movie, I still love all three films. This looks like it could be trying to do something more with the series and I fully support that (unless it degrades into that old Teenage Military Dino-people script.... which would be fine as a movie itself, just not Jurassic Park). And I just get even more excited remembering that Michael Giachinno is going to score the film. I honestly think he could easily fill John Williams' spot when he departs us.
Star Wars - It's a new Star Wars movie. Until some time after Disney has been pumping these movies out yearly, I will always be excited for a new Star Wars movie. After 2003 I wasn't expecting to see any new movies, so yeah. Bring on the ball droid.
Mad Max - The non-cg car crashes in the trailer alone sold me on this film. But I feel like I've been hearing whispers about this movie since the early 2000's. I'd be totally fine if Mad Max became a big thing again. Bring on the post-apocalypses punks!
Inside Out/The Good Dinosaur - Pixar.
Jupiter Ascending - This will either be total crap or nearly mind blowingly awesome. Either way I get to see space dragons fight Channing Tatum and bet on when Sean Bean dies in the movie.
EDIT:
Avengers: Age of Ultron - I'd be hyped by it regardless, but James Spader's few lines have totally sunk their claws into me.
Tomorrowland - Brad Bird is directing, that's all I really need to know. But that trailer man... hmmm. yeah.
Specter - Same Director and writers of Skyfall and with how the end of Skyfall sets the stage for some old school Bond awesomeness, sign me up. Plus Christoph Waltz as a baddie, possibly Blofeld. Hell yeah.

Oh, I forgot Jupiter Ascending! After Speed Racer everything the Wachowskis do gets an automatic look from me.

It's good to think about all the stuff to anticipate, but I feel like 2014's truly excellent blockbusters (Guardians, Godzilla, and Apes) has left me spoiled.

I know the movies that surprise you the most are typically the movies you end up liking best, but i think all my top picks for 2014 were films that i was looking forward to.

1. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens - I love Star Wars, one of my favorite franchises (one of the big two along with Jurassic Park growing up) and I have such a good feeling this could be something special, something genuinely great.
2. Jurassic World - Another favorite franchise, one that's been with me longer than any other. The only reason it's second is because I'm not nearly as confident this will actually be good as I am about The Force Awakens, but I always enjoy a Jurassic Park film and I hope it will be decent at the very least.
3. Mad Max: Fury Road - Didn't think I'd care about this, then the trailers happened and it actually looks pretty damn awesome.
4. Crimson Peak - I'm always there for a Guillermo del Toro film, and this will be something fairly different for him so I'm curious to see how he handles that.
5. The Hateful Eight - I liked Inglourious Basterds, I liked Django Unchained, I'm sure I'll like this one. Plus it has Kurt Russell.
6. Furious 7 - I finally watched the series for the first time a few weeks ago, and while I wasn't crazy about the first four (though they had some entertainment value), the fifth and sixth were fairly significant improvements with 6 especially being very enjoyable, so I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes next. Plus, again, Kurt Russell.

#1 Fantasic Four-The comments on this movie alone will be pure gold. The public/fan reaction will be an added bonus.

Some I forgot about in my initial response
Victor Frankenstein - Max Landis is writing, and he's always got these great-sounding ideas he posts on Twitter or whatnot complaining to studios for not accepting the pitch. So, I'm definitely curious.
Spongebob: Sponge Out of Water - I doubt I'll see this in theaters or anything, but I think it could be a fun time.
Krampus - Michael Dougherty making a Krampus movie? Color me interested.
Joy - David O. Russell working with Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro again. I'm interested.
Untitled Christmas Project - directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen. This is the creative team that made 50/50 so I'm definitely interested in what would come out of that next.
Maze Runner: Scorch Trials - I enjoyed the first movie, so I'm on board for more.
Tomorrowland - I don't really know a lot about it but I'm curious to see a trailer or something (which, could potentially, like the Jupiter Ascending trailer make me LESS excited, but we'll see).

I forgot about Krampus and the Frankenstein remake/new adaptation/whatever.
No interest in suffering through Maze Runner or Hunger Games Divergent 2 (since that is what it really is).
