Could work, I wonder if this movie will be a new adaptation of Martin Caidin's novel that started everything, Cyborg. I've been wanting to read it, and the sequel novels for several years now but they have long been out of print; hopefully this movie will spur a round of reprints.

I guess that The Weinstein Co. was looking for star power when casting Mark Wahlberg. Walhberg (43) is already 9 years older than Lee Majors (34) was when he first took on the role of Steve Austin, it will be interesting to see how this will affect any sequels.

Superhero and similar movies love to do that thing of making a joke out of the classic uniform, so I'm sure there will be a crack at the red tracksuit's expense somewhere in there. Either that or it will never get screentime or mention but Wahlberg's outfit for most of the movie has a red undershirt as a small nod.

I was also thinking that if they chose to make the movie a full origin story and not skip through it then they could certainly adapt the iconic opening credits sequence as a really kick-ass trailer for the film. I know there would be a LOT of people sitting up in their seats upon hearing the first few beats of the tymphany bass, the super-imposed radar screen and the static-laced conversation between capcom & Austin. It would surely get the fans of the original series really pumped up - and without giving away too much detail of the full plot for the film.

I just hope we get to see some cool surgery scenes and lots of techno-speak about the bionic prosthetics. There have been so many advancements in this area that it is even easier nowadays to imagine a slight nudge forward to make this concept a truly workable reality - with creative license excerised, of course. Since he's the right age to have been a viewer of the series it must be somewhat of a mind-blower, and an honor, for Wahlberg to portray what was likely one of his fav childhood heroes. How cool would that be? :D

While promoting his new movie The Gambler, Mark Wahlberg chatted with the entertainment website, Collider, about his upcoming film project The Six Billion Dollar Man. Though, he won't get to it until he has finished .

Looks like Borys Kit (author of the article) didn't bother to look much into the T.V. series. The show retconned Steve Austin back to being an military officer (USAF Colonel); only the initial tele-movie had Austin as a civilian.

Going outside Hollywood could prove to a great boon for the movie -- provided studio execs don't get to meddling.
