Transformers 5 Could be a Spin Off, Won’t have Michael Bay, Mark Wahlberg

I thought the 4th TF was the "best", as in it was actually a decent, albeit too long, movie.

That said, let's see what someone else can do with the series. Bay can apparently only go as far as "alright". Maybe who ever helms 5 will actually make one that'll be good. And hopefully under two and half hours.

In fact, the whole idea of having a Writers’ Room is to generate stories till 2025.

I just hope they focus more on the Transformers as protagonists rather than blah humans.

I'm a huge Transformers fan, and I've come to really hate the Bay flicks. TF4 was the worst when it comes to what its done to what could have been a movie mythos. The transformers are now liquid robot T-1000's. There's nothing mechanical about them and any mention of "car parts" they might have is just accidental not intentional. They CGI morph. They don't transform by moving parts of themselves around. The worst of it is that there are no rules. Hey, lets end the movie by having Optimus sprout rockets and fly into space! Nevermind how useful this ability might have been previously.

I think that the TF movie-verse has a lot of systemic problems. For example, I've never really liked the movie-verse's Cybertronian's baked in ability to scan for alt-modes on demand. Why transform at all when you can simply scan something and change into it just as fast as you can transform? It seems to me that the T-1000 style transforming we see in the fourth movie is just an extension of the pick a new alt-mode whenever used in the first movie.

Rocket Optimus was definitely cringe-worthy -- especially when the movie-verse took pains to tell us that mere cold is a Cybertronian's Kryptonite (a pretty stupid concept, especially when Megatron could have been dormant without the silly cold excuse).

Micronauts but no M.A.S.K. ...

Does Hasbro even own Micronauts? A quick review of the Wikipedia article seems to indicate that the Micronauts property is owned by Abrams Gentile Entertainment LLC which was formed after Mego's bankruptcy "to retain and manage Mego’s licensing contracts, rights and deals." And AGE's article suggest that the company is healthy (and even recovered the Mego trademark some few years ago).

I guess if Hasbro has licensed the rights to make Micronauts toys that they'd want a movie to propel sales, and perhaps Ant-Man has helped drive the decision forward. It just seems a bit odd to me that Hasbro would want to go with a property they had to spend money securing the toy and movie licenses for rather than go with a property they already own.

Get ready for movies based on the super relatable and relevant toy lines Visionaries, M.A.S.K., and ROM.

GI Joe and MASK make sense, I believe they even added Matt Trakker to the GI Joe continuity a few years back? -Integrating Transformers technology (which we already saw in AoE) and the military creating its own Transforming vehicles, not that big a stretch. But Visionaries...??? That series was a fun show, but takes place on a completely different world. Not sure how that would work with GI: Joe??

The filmmaker says “it’s time to move on” and that he’ll soon “have to pass the reins to someone else”
