I'm going to be physically sick of this franchise by the time Episode IX is released.

Lately, when it comes to Star Wars, I keep imagining Disney execs singing "Every Little Piece" (from Pete's Dragon) like Dr. Terminus in their boardrooms.

Looper was great and Rian Johnson directed some of the best episodes of Breaking Bad. Episode VIII has the potential to be the second-greatest Star Wars movie of all time.
If Gareth Edwards is directing a Boba Fett spinoff movie, it will probably be set between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy. Maybe the second spinoff movie that Josh Trank is directing will be set between the original trilogy and the new trilogy?

My sole overriding wish in the universe is for 4K remasters of the original 1977, 1980, and 1983 cuts. I don't care who directs what or how many horrible spin-offs, sequels, prequels, midquels, or anything else they make, if it gets me that, it's all worth it. Of course, I still thing Richard Dawkins will become a preacher before it happens, but I can hope.

It depends. Fox does still technically own ANH forever and they have the rights to the other movies until 2020. It all comes down to if the Devil was able to buy out the Republicans.
I just hope that if Disney does do the original versions, they include ALL of the bonus features released up to this point in time in the set including The Empire of Dreams (which is absent from the BD set for some reason).

There have been lots of (unsubstantiated) rumors about Disney wanting to or being will to do it, but having to get around Fox having the distribution rights, but at this point, the fandom has been speculating in endless circles. I've been burned as a fan so many times that frankly, I don't want to hope anymore, by I'd love more than anything to he wrong. I'd pay damn near any piece for these if they aren't messed up and the remasters are done CORRECTLY. like I said, I'd love to be wrong.

Can I frigging have a paying job at io9?! Gilliam is one of cinema's genuine iconoclasts. But I can't see him being straitjacketed to work on something so hugely, overtly commercial. Then again, Lynch and Cronenberg both turned down ROTJ. Paul Verhoeven says they offered it to him at one point, but backpedaled after seeing
Turkish Delight because they were "worried that the Jedi would start [banging] right away"

.

All those TURRIBLE sequels like Empire Strikes Back, Godfather 2, Terminator 2, Aliens, (or, to get more recent since I know the "THEY DON'T MAKE GOOD MOVIES ANYMORE!!!!" complaint is coming) Captain America 2, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Skyfall, The Dark Knight, Toy Story 3, the X-Men Movies.
SEQUELS SUCK AND ARE STUPID!
