While we're all celebrating "Godzilla"s 60th. anniversary we should take note that the original "Big G" is celebrating a milestone anniversary too!!



Well IMDB lists September 15th. and Wikipedia amoung others has February 8th. but either way this year is the 100th. anniversary of the mother of all monster movies. The one that started the dinosaur/monster film craze. The first key frame animation. Everyone wish "GERTIE" a BIG Happy Birthday!!

pretty cool thanks. I remmeber my dad having a print of this on super 8 and seeing it often as a kid

If Winsor McCay only did these instrumental pieces of early animation he'd be a legend, the fact that he was also an unparalleled genius in the realm of comics was just showing off.

I always assumed "Gertie" was from 1912, but I guess I stand corrected. Anyway, good to see that the old girl is well remembered today!
