I would have been cool with JJ sticking with Star Trek, but I wouldn't want him doing Star Trek AND Star Wars.

After a thoroughly disappointing second installment a creative shakeup may be just what's needed.

I'm down for new blood. Nick Meyer only had one movie in the director's chair before having to re-write and direct Wrath of Khan. I for one loved Into Darkness, but both the television and film series has been about switching up directors and behind-the-camera talents. So it's exciting to see what someone else might do.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are set to tackle the third installment of the franchise alongside Roberto Orci.

I'm ready for a new Trek if only for the hope we get something more satisfying than STID.

Cornish is out apparently

Which is kind of bittersweet since on the one hand i want the ST franchise to be in good hands, and on the other hand i'd like to see him put out something fun and original like 'Attack the Block'.

I hated Benedict Cumberbatch in STITD.

Cumberbatch is great, but his Star Trek character was dull as dishwater. The popularity was due to the popularity of the star, not the actual character on screen.

Based on this movie alone (because I have little to no familiarity with Cumberbatch outside of this film) I can't even understand why he's popular.

It's so crazy. After Star Trek 09' I was SO EXCITED for a sequel...

Now I'm just incredibly "meh". Into Darkness rehashed too much which dragged down what worked in the film and now it's in less than capable hands. Blech.
