So it looks both insanely stupid and really, really fun. I'd watch it.

If I had children, I'd totally pretend they were the ones SUPER excited about this and not me.

But I don't as yet so I get to be the adult man who's like "THAT LEGO MOVIE LOOKS AWESOME!"

I heard somewhere that the majority of this is stop-motion, with some CGI added for enhancements. In seeing the trailer, it looks as if they went that direction, so I say good for them. Knowing that, I may want to see it, but perhaps later on. The last picture I saw based on some toy or board game was “Battleship” during a Thanksgiving Day get together. After seeing that, I found that I had little to be thankful for that day!

I dunno if it's stop-motion but at the very least it REALLY looks like they held to the physics of how actual Legos move.

If anyone has a shred of artistry in them or a sense of play and imagination they should go see The Lego Movie right away. Aside from being a string of energetic, clever jokes, sight gags, pop culture references, and jabs at corporate mentality, it's also a surprisingly honest and heartfelt banner for both inspiration and embracing one's sense of uninhibited creativity. This was especially amazing to me since when I first heard about this movie being made the first thing I thought was, "Corporate cash grab," which is even more amazing since that's also partly one of the themes of the movie. Very not bad considering that ironically it is still a giant commercial for Lego toys.

I agree, went and saw it Friday just for the heck of it and really enjoyed it. A couple of surprising cameos / voices and as a whole rather nicely done with a somewhat cliched but heartfelt message.

We took our boys 4 and 7 and they loved it and my wife and I had fun too. It's not going to win an academy award but that's not the point. It's fun for all ages so take your kids or if you are a kid, go have fun.

^With writers. I mean, I just....I can't stand when people are like "Arrogance." or "Moving too fast there, huh?" when the movie is being WRITTEN.

Movies are being written all the time, and never come to fruition. There was a Green Lantern sequel being written...they probably spent like a couple grand, and then when the movie bombed they were like, "Hey writers, you're done".

A movie having writers to me isn't even really news. It's kinda one of these things that's a product of our age: everyone wants new news AT THE MOMENT IT HAPPENS and so stuff that nobody would ever even have heard about back in the 90s (because I'm sure this isn't a wholly new practice), becomes some kind of a story.

Sorry, I ended up ranting...

I was ultra-cynical about LEGO, but after reading a few positive reviews (and knowing it was being done by the guys who did Clone High), I went to go see it. I was surprised-above-surprised how much I enjoyed it! Seriously a fun film, though I wonder if they can capture the same magic for a sequel.

And the cameos... rock pretty hard!

I here it essentially deconstructs the whole Hero's Journey idea.

This movie was really fun. As an adult, it was a good time at the movies and nothing I'd revisit over and over, but if I was a kid this would be my favorite movie ever. There's plenty of jokes there for kids and adults and givin that its a f*cking LEGO movie, its surprisingly deep and existential... I realize how crazy that sounds.

I was also happy to hear that most of the animation was done in stop motion.

Also, Batman is one of the main characters and he makes the movie in a lot of ways. There are also cameos from all kinds of properties that are a lot of fun.
