I must say that Kong got a much better CGI makeover than Godzilla did (luckily, we're doing take-two on that front). Seeing this version of Kong in media (merchandise, parodies) doesn't bother me, while the few times I've seen GINO used in a similar fashion irk me.

Also: this movie could have and should have been exactly one hour shorter, and with only a couple of scenes lost - most of it would just be shortening existing scenes.

This is my third favorite Kong film.
