I try not to be against the idea of remakes, but this is one I don't really get. I just don't see it as a story with a lot of wiggle room for a different enough interpretation and the DePalma movie hit every note perfectly.

That said, I'm at work now and can't watch the trailer, so maybe that will change my mind.

I do like the casting of Moretz though.

Speaking of Chloe Moretz, am I the ONLY one that isn't getting the whole "she's too pretty to play Carrie" thing? This seems like the biggest fan complaint online and I'M JUST NOT GETTING IT.

First off, Spacek wasn't ugly or unattractive either. It was all in her performance and how she was made down for the role. She wasn't an unattractive girl by any means. I mean...

Not a bad looking chick at all.

FURTHERMORE, I think Chloe actually fits that bill rather nicely. I know tons of pedos and pervs out there think she's hot or something, but I always found Chloe to have rather androgynous looks.

When done down, she has a good amount of homeliness to her, just like Spacek had.

Besides, wasn't Carrie fat in the book also?

People complain just to complain.

Chloe is cuter than Spacek. I agree with that, but I wouldn't put the movie on the edge of knife because of it. I do think she will have more of a challenge because of that. We don't know how she is going to be bullied/troubled in the movie anyways. Now a days pretty girls get bullied for the sake of being pretty and then kill themselves. Who knows what route the movie will take.

The biggest gripes I have are the things they added (like Carrie telling her mom she's got powers), because they show a fundamental misunderstanding of the characters (ie: Carrie's mom is far too crazy to be able to handle this news), AND that the trailer showed these things to us. I'd have actually been fine if the trailer just showed us basically a replication of DePalma's film, and then reviews and stuff told us it wasn't, and we were able to find some of those things out for ourselves.
