I've heard it got good reviews from TIFF (was it TIFF?)

I've heard its very Argento/Fulci-esque... very Italian style.

Yes, it was TIFF.

Honestly, the most exciting thing I've heard about this movie is that it would "not appeal to mainstream audiences"

Makes me think this is the Rob Zombie of Devil's Rejects and Halloween 2, the two films of his that I like.

I'm always rooting for Rob Zombie cuz I know he really means well and has at least some talent (and the Devil's Rejects remains one of my favorite movies of the last 10 years), but this movie's plot synopsis sounds utterly retarded. Has there EVER been a good "Evil Rock Band" movie? I've seen at least half a dozen of those and they're always awful. The idea alone is too ridiculous for me to take seriously, so Rob better have something special in store for me to buy into it. And the trailers don't have me very convinced... and the reviews have been almost universally negative.

I'll see it out of curiosity (especially since a lot of people are comparing it to Italian films like stuff from Argento and Fulci), but I'm not expecting it to be all that good.

Well his next movie will have to ditch that because he's doing a sports drama about the real life story of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 70s.

Horror author Kim Newman made this very good observation on Facebook.

Kinda makes you think if this whole thing is just wrongheaded from the start.

That compounded with the utterly stupid "Ghost Witch gives a record to a DJ to play on the radio so he can resurrect himself" plot and the extremely negative buzz has made this movie really plummet on my anticipated films list.
