'Professor trying to create a ghost by harnessing negative energy' sounds more like the first three pages to a Hellboy short story than anything I've ever heard.

I can see it all in my mind's eye: the professor turns the machine on and the next page has a captain reading 'Three Years Later' and the panel shows Hellboy entering an old mansion.

This sounds pretty cool. What sprung to mind for me was Nigel Kneale. It's not really the same thing but being a non-traditional ghost story/science thing it reminds me of .

Looks really stylish. I like this revival of classy horror that Hammer are doing. It's what the genre needs after a decade of torture porn rubbish.
