Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama. I've heard about attempts to get a movie made, but so far, pfffft. Nuthin'! I love that whole series.

I would love to make a short film out of Philip K. Dick's short story, "" but his estate only allows studios to license works for FEATURES. Lame.
I may make it anyway. >>
EDIT: WHOA. I MIGHT BE PUBLIC DOMAIN. D:

Virgil's Aeneid tops my list. I'm surprised to see that no one's tried to do a big-budget adaptation of it... or really any adaptation at all, apart from one or two obscure, low-budget movies. Kinda sucks, considering the Aeneid is my favorite work of classical literature.
I'd also like to see adaptations of Conan the Barbarian and Kull of Atlantis that actually adhere to the source material. I'll admit that I've enjoyed the Conan and Kull movies made to varying extents, but it really is time for straight adaptations.
And while there's no way it'd ever survive the transition to film intact, I'd be interested to see someone attempt a movie version of Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood.
