Dr. Strange (2016)

Out of the current crop of Marvel films the only two whose scores really stuck out to me while watching the movies are The Incredible Hulk by Craig Armstrong and Brian Tyler's Iron Man 3. Everything else has sounded serviceable for their movies but didn't make me rush out and listen to the scores themselves. But Giacchino is one of my favorite composers, so this should be fantastic.

I really liked Henry Jackman's score for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I haven't seen Civil War yet but I'm glad they brought Jackman back as composer.

The soundtrack comes out soon. I just think it would be awesomely hilarious if The Doors song "People are Strange" plays at the very end, kind of like how Black Sabbath's Iron Man did at the end of IM1

Just saw it last night. It's a fairly solid movie, though not one of Marvel's best. It's one of those movies where everything basically feels fine, but kind of leaves you wanting more. The trippy, visual style of the film is almost worth the price of admission alone.

I saw this last night, my first time ever seeing a movie in 3-D on the big screen and it works really effectively with this film's visuals. I liked the movie a lot. It's a well done origin story with really tight pacing, a sense of urgency to its globe-spanning changes in setting, and a talented cast that gives it their all.

I'm glad that Marvel seems to have responded to the criticism that their movies too often ended with huge-scale action sequences full of explosions and/or warring armies. The third act of Doctor Strange is quite the opposite of that in the best way possible. This is the second consecutive Marvel Studios flick to feature its biggest trailer-friendly set piece as the penultimate action sequence while making the third act closer something much more intimate and narratively satisfying.

Perhaps Marvel's most "totally fine" movie to date. Doctor Strange has the visuals it promised, but very little else in this movie is interesting. Stephen Strange is unlikable (I'm sure not helped by my general distaste for Eggs Benedict CabbagePatch), the love interest (literally can't remember the character's name) is a non-entity, as is the villain...Kaceisus? something like that...Chiwetol Ejiofor (spelling mangled) is kinda boring and dull, and everything plays out like a second-rate Iron Man. The only breath of fresh air aside from the visuals is the ending, which doesn't feature a villain being punched to death, but rather . That's pretty novel, and along with the really truly awesome visuals is enough to make the movie worth a watch.

The explosion of Spider-Man speculation that's hit the internet in the wake of this news is just silly.

Just because Scott Derrickson dropped out of directing and Marvel has approached Sam Raimi to replace him doesn't mean that the Doctor Strange sequel is suddenly going to become some live-action Spider-Verse movie.

Raimi is in talks to direct Doctor Strange 2, not Spider-Man 9.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens on May 7, 2021, while the third Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland and directed by Jon Watts opens two months later on July 16.

These two superheroes are each headlining their own separate movies in the Summer of 2021.

Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff is the featured guest star in Doctor Strange 2. Obviously they're adapting the House of M saga rather than any Spider-Man storyline.

Multiverse of Madness is about building on the Disney+ miniseries WandaVision and expanding the MCU. It's not about connecting the MCU to other studios' Marvel adaptations from decades past.

This isn't the CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths we're talking about here.

I love Raimi's directorial style. I just hope that Raimi and Marvel don't split due to creative differences like another stylistic director I love, Edgar Wright. In some ways, I'd think making a MCU film would be more constrictive than Sony on Spidey 3.
