Finally checked this flick out last night and definitely enjoyed it. It isn't perfect, but its so insane, so creative, original and so weird that you can't help but just get sucked in by the whole thing. Imagine the b*stard child of HP Lovecraft and William S Burroughs and you'll have an idea what to expect.

It gets a little too muddled and all over the place and it kinda loses steam towards the third act, but otherwise, its a fun, funny, weird trip. Some great practical effects work also. I can see how this definitely has cult classic potential.

I also thought the two leads were very good, considering they are first timers. And of course, Paul Giamatti, Daniel Robuck, Angus Scrimm and Doug Jones all turn in good supporting roles also.

I'd give it a 3.5. It would have been a 4 had it flowed a bit better during the second half. It really does start to feel like they're trying to cram a little too much in there out of devotion to the book.

Still, highly recommended if you are craving some more original genre fare.
