Most sources I'm reading seem to think Mary Poppins is going to blow everything else away, even Aquaman. I have no interest in MP, and I hope it doesn't runaway with all the box office. It would be nice to see a more even distribution especially with so many big movies all clumped together.

Honestly, I'm surprised at the idea that they think all these live action remakes of the classic Disney movies are going to be monster hits, or are supposed to be. To me, it seems far more pertinent that they refresh the Earth's collective consciousness that these characters exist because they are such a huge part of the makeup of their theme park and associated branding and merchandise.

^ That's a bummer that it's not doing as well as forecast. It's certainly an above-average comic book superhero movie and the fact that it's totally coming from a female perspective in its aesthetic makes it unique, and I know a few young women who are absolutely gaga over it and have talked about seeing it multiple times. I feel it will engender a healthy, long running fan base, but it just goes to show you that those huge box office numbers aren't created by having a certain audience absolutely love a film, they're caused by having the widest general appeal even if 99% of the people who see it just say "eh, it's alright."
