I read Judge Dredd a lot in the 80s. I wasn't a big fan of the Stallone movie. But it looks like a masterful adaptation that understood the feel of the comics far better than this Nolan Batman ripoff.

That being said based off of the trailer which could be totally deceitful.

Not story-wise, but the dourness, the faded color pallet, the quietly grim acting, the mistaken search for a stab at reality squeezed into a comic property. What I'm saying is that at least to me it's like some exec saw Dark Knight and decided they need to do that, but with Judge Dredd.

If you've read any of the comics, they are over the top and bombastic and everything is pushed to 11 to get a certain feel across. They are taking a comic with those attributes and stripping all of it away.

Again, it's a trailer. Due to the trailers, I thought Bridge to Terabithia was going to be some Mignolaesque or Pan's Labyrinth type faerie movie.

This movie screened at Comic-con and is getting fantastic reviews. I can't wait to see it! I like my heroes either hard-assed and rated R (Guyver), or inspirational and full of color (Spider-Man, Superman)
