Lord of the Rings IS the greatest movie trilogy of all time!

I have not watched the Lord of the Rings Trilogy since 2004 and I just spent the last three days watching the new Blu-Ray set of the Extended Editions. I have no idea why I have not watched them since then, but it saddens me because this is the greatest movie trilogy ever!! Every movie is so well done in everything, visuals, cast, music, story telling, EVERYTHING!! There is not one thing I can complain about because every scene is so detailed and done with care. Not to mention the ending is complete and gives a great send off to the main cast of characters, which is something movies severly lack in this nature. Endings are always like 2 minutes long and that is it, which is fine for a single movie, but when it comes to a full on trilogy, I want my ending to feel complete in the manner this movie does it. In fact, my watching these again puts a lot of the recent movies from the last several years to shame. Excluding comic book based movies, very little has the depth or is as breath taking as this series. Why?

I actually used to watch the EE several times a year. In fact, I watched all three movies in one day once all three were out on DVD. And by that, I mean the EE, since those are the only way to go for me. I get bored out of my mind with the theatrical cut of FotR, but I cannot take my eyes away from the EE.

I don't really count Evil Dead as a trilogy since the second movie ignores the first one.

I love the Gamera and both Star Wars trilogies, but LotR easily trumps them when it comes to an ending.

Also, if you want, you could always just watch one disc a day instead of one movie a day. The disc runtimes are like this:

FotR Disc 1: 1 hour 42 minutes
FotR Disc 2: 1 hour 25 minutes (not including credits)
TT Disc 1: 1 hour 47 minutes
TT Disc 2: 1 hour 44 minutes (not including credits)
RotK Disc 1: 2 hours 7 minutes
RotK Disc 2: 1 hour 53 minutes (not including credits)

"One thing's for sure, we're all gonna be a lot thinner!"

I love that scene.
