Oooh, if these are pre-synched then maybe we'll get them on DVD! (I'm mostly a DVD guy for Rifftrax. I like physical copies.)

It's not a very good movie. The monster was pretty cool though.

[quote]Our new release Abraxas: Guardian of the Universe follows the heroic exploits of a galactic defender, played by Jesse Ventura, who comes to Earth to--wait, wait, that can’t be right. Jesse Ventura? The washed-up 80s wrestler known primarily for his feather boas and conspiracy theories? No, no way. Who would let THAT GUY guard a universe? Forget that, who would even let him guard some small part of the universe? Say, a state of the United States of America, a state with a population of roughly 5.3 million, perhaps located in the Midwest, with an area of 86,939 square miles, famous for its thousands of lakes? Totally implausible, the world just isn’t that silly.

And yet, here he is, ready to stumble into action and visibly struggle when he speaks! It’s a Terminator-infringing wonderland of snow, words like Comator (or Colemader, or Cone-mater, depending on who happens to be saying it) and organic apple sales. And it features JIM BELUSHI AS AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL. He’s there for some comic relief, in the sense that if someone has been stepping on your throat but then stops to step on your chest instead, it’s sort of a “reliefâ€

[quote]Thor is the rare superhero movie that raises important questions. Namely, the important question “If Thor was considered the good superhero movie of 2011, just exactly how wretched must Green Lantern have been?â€

Although I don't know that Thor is the ideal choice for Rifftrax, I love the little touch of using an image of a toy of the Destroyer for the poster.

I've never tried a Rifftrax. In theory, I should enjoy them, from the commercials I've seen of them online and some appreciation of MST3K. What would you guys suggest, or should I simply wait it out for the inevitable Green Lantern raking-across-the-coals?

There’s an old saying that goes “Behind every successful movie, there’s a horrible Italian rip-off of it that uses three seconds of endless looped drumbeats as its soundtrack.â€

I'll take the opportunity to point you all toward the official Rifftrax Twitch channel, which runs almost 24/7: https://www.twitch.tv/rifftrax

There are usually 200+ people watching at a time, so you probably won't be lonely if you choose to sign up and chat. I've watched some "gems" like Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny and Cool as Ice through this channel. You won't see many riffs of big-budget or recent films, however -- temper your expectations.

Wonderful :). I know my mind goes to odd places, but I wonder if this means sometime, we may get a legit DVD or Blu Ray of this version (even though I have at least of them already, and the Neptune VHS...)... 8)

Nice. I'm not into films that have been riffed before, but Octaman is a definite, if they do Tuesday Encore's as they have done previously, I'm there.
