This is just dumb, dumb, DUMB! Why can't we just get a subbed release of Yamato and call it a day...sigh...

Star Blazers, along with Battle of the Planets were my first anime, although they were both "americanized" I still enjoy them to this day, and their true japanese source material. The 2010 Yamato movie is getting a subbed release, but I am curious to see how Star Blazers would work, though there are so many things that could potentially go wrong. As long as they star far far away from then ideas that were coming from Disney about 15 years ago (using the USS Arizona instead of the Yamato etc)

But what actually excites me more is the prospect that Voyager Ent. is looking into adapting Yamato 2199 into a new Star Blazers series. I loved 2199, and for nostalgia sake only, love to see it americanized, that is something I really can't say about any other anime where I would prefer just a straight translation.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Gives me a chance to update since my last post...So I love Yamato 2199. But all Voyager Ent. did was subtitle the series, and add American names. Why couldn't they have just released the series as it was meant to be. it's kind of annoying every time someone clearly says "Kodai" and the subtitle reads "Wildstar" for example. not to mention that Voyager seems to want to charge Japanese prices for their Blu rays...forget that. I love this series but was able to obtain it legally for much more economical means.

Also I'm super excited for Yamato 220 which just started in Japan.

As for a big budget Hollywood film...Of course I'm going to give it a chance, but like with so many other properties I'm not holding my breath thinking this is going to happen any time soon.

^ I guess Voyager's hold on Yamato is similar to Harmony Gold's on Macross? Well, at least they're actually releasing the stuff, even if it is prohibitively expensive (making a deal with Netflix or something would be great).
