Blazing Saddles is my favorite, followed immediately by Young Frankenstein. Even though some films are weaker than others, I don't think Brooks has directed a totally bad film.

And as previously mentioned, he also gave us the Elephant Man and the Fly! A true legend.

And let me second jelly's feelings on the "WHERE THE WHITE WOMEN AT" scene in BS... hilarious! Talk about a brilliant film that would NEVER get made today.

^^^The absolute GENIUS that is Young Frankenstein becomes apparent once you watch the original Frankenstein films...

Young Frankenstein is the greatest movie ever made every time I watch it. It's just perfect.

The only thing by Mel Brooks that I didn't care for was Dracula Dead and Loving It. Everything else he has done is fantastic, going all the way back to his days with Carl Reiner doing the 2,000 Year Old Man. I watched a bunch of them from the Blu Ray set with my nephew this summer, who had only seen Spaceballs. He was absolutely caught up in the films. Another fan created.

There's a bunch of Brooks films I still need to see: Silent Movie, To Be on Not to Be (should probably see the original first), High Anxiety, Twelve Chairs...

Both versions of To Be or Not to Be are worth watching. It's the same story (but with some significant differences) but with different styles of film making. And it doesn't hurt that I'm as much a Jack Benny fan as I am Mel Brooks.

Chris, Matt and Jonah sit down with a legend! The amazing Mel Brooks comes on the show to tell some hilarious stories about pitching his movies, how he and Carl Reiner still get each other to laugh, and much more!
