GUNHED (1989). Such a promising action/adventure concept, such (usually) lovely production design, some quite decent visual FX... all marred by plodding direction and a sloppy, schizophrenic script. A good rewrite which expands and refines certain aspects (the setup, the characterisations, the deaths of most of the characters so that they don't happen in the first ten minutes) and condenses others (such as the whole final act), and keeps the film at a tidier, quicker running time (maybe 80 minutes?), along with more stylish and coherent direction, might turn it into quite a memorable ride. At least I've always thought so :P

Aliens vs Predator like I said in the Predators topic the series has a lot of potential if done properly.

The Tingler.. now I LOVE the original Vincent Price flick an I'm a big William Castle fan. But that concept could actually be made into a really unsettling body horror film. Someone got the rights to remake it (I believe Darren Bousman was attached at one point), but nothing ever happened.

The Funhouse- Tobe Hooper's 80s slasher. Its really unsettling and cool for the first half and then just turns into the typical slasher movie later on. I actually think this is the type of film Rob Zombie could do a superior remake to. All his fetishes are here (classic horror, carnivals, clowns, freaks, rednecks, etc.).

It- Dunno if you'd call it a remake since it was a novel, but the book was probably the one of the scariest things I've ever read and IMO one of King's true masterpieces. And it was turned into a goofy TV movie where everything (besides Tim Curry's iconic performance as Pennywise) was awful. I can only imagine what someone like Frank Darabont would be able to do with this.
