Meh. I'm not a big fan at all, my g//f loves the series. The first movie was all right, the second was excellent, the third was utter garbage, the fourth one sucked but had a slight improvement over the third, the fifth one was a step in the right direction, while the sixth one turned out to be quite enjoyable. Of course, it helps that they went back to the gothic medieval environments of the first two in the fifth and sixth movies, while finally introducing characters I like (Bellatrix and Fenrir).

The biggest thing I hate about seeing them though is listening to the 2 hour long rant about how things are different from the books.

Man Kain, it never ceases to amaze me how your taste is so completely different from mine (& apparently almost everyone else on this board!). Bellatrix is my least favorite character as she just hams it up too much & is too stereotypically "oooh a cool goth witch".

I like the Harry Potter movies & look forward to this one. They're not perfect & the first one left thinking I wouldn't be a fan of the series, but my wife convinced me to see the second & I've enjoyed them all since. It's just a good classic tale of good versus evil with a likeable hero on a Campbellian hero's journey while a fun band of friends and mentors tag along. It's a lot like the original Star Wars.

Yeah, I'm of almost the complete opposite opinion as well... I thought the movies started picking up at #3 and only got better after that.

My favorite is the third and the rest are okay with the exception of the last one, which I thought was so boring. My girlfriend is all about Harry Potter so I have no choice but to see these.

Hey its better than Twilight, thank god she doesn't drag me to that garbage.
