This news makes me very happy. I'm looking forward to another well-done Iron Man film with the Mandarin!

VULTURE EXCLUSIVE:

[quote="Claude Brodesser-Akner"]
The poet Robert Browning once wrote that "a man in armor is his armor's slave." By that logic, director Jon Favreau is now a free man: Insiders tell Vulture that Favreau has just informed Marvel Studios that he won't direct a third Iron Man film.

It's unclear whether the impasse was financial or creative or both. One informed source hears that he was frustrated with Marvel's urge to stuff more of their in-house heroes into the next film in the wake of The Avengers. In a recent interview with MTV News, Favreau explained that based on his conversations with Marvel Studios executives, he had no clarity as to what a third Iron Man film would even be about. “In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers,â€

Can't say I'm surprised. But how often has a part 3 been good at all, ESPECIALLY when they replace directors?

Not expecting much out of this. Especially since the first Iron Man movie might have been some kind of fluke anyway (seeing as how

The more time that passes since the original Iron Man the more I appreciate just how The Incredible Hulk is a better film in my opinion...I think the IM franchise is kind of flacid and devoid of anything special honestly...I blame most of this on the second film destruction of everything that made the first film great. The second film actually managed to just about ruin the first film for me.

Also...what ever happened to Favreau's promise that the Mandarin would be alluded to heavily in the second film? Seriously, at this rate...his arch nemesis is just going to show up and pull a "Sandman from SP3"...i.e. seemingly out of no where it will be revealed that these two characters have really been inter-connected from the start, problem is without any foreshadowing this is just seems forced, lazy and un-inspired...

I rarely post in this thread anymore because I'm kind of burnt out of the Hollywood stuff these days but I did feel the need to once again bring up how much I hate IM 2 and everything it failed to stand for...

Now I'll go back to lurking the kaiju related threads once more...
