[quote]This past Saturday, Ain’t It Cool News reported that the amazing Shane Black (he used to be Shane Black the Great but now he’s amazing) will be writing and possibly directing the adaptation of the pulp fiction hero “Doc Savageâ€

I need to watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, because Iron Man 3 does not fill me with confidence in his take on Doc Savage.

If it was up to me, I'd simply adapt one of the many Doc Savage pulp novels (largely written by Lester Dent) -- no need to reinvent the wheel. There are a lot of great stories already written

I also disagree with Moriarty's statement that "modern audiences aren’t really prepped for pure straight-from-the-tap pulp," the world of comic books owes its genesis directly to the era of hero pulps. Batman, the Green Arrow, the Black Canary, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, etc. are all comic book versions of pulp heroes and returning to the wellspring should prove no big leap for audiences.

Yeah, it's a comment that does not exude confidence in the potential story. As I mentioned earlier, I hope that the movie is an adaptation of one of the existing pulps. I have several of Sanctum Books ( http://www.shadowsanctum.com ) pulp reprints of Doc Savage and The Shadow (though no where near complete unfortunately) I'll look through what I have (and have read as I've been saving my small stock to read through slowly) for ideas from existing stories.
