If it was up to me, I'd simply adapt one of the many Doc Savage pulp novels (largely written by Lester Dent) -- no need to reinvent the wheel. There are a lot of great stories already written
I also disagree with Moriarty's statement that "modern audiences aren’t really prepped for pure straight-from-the-tap pulp," the world of comic books owes its genesis directly to the era of hero pulps. Batman, the Green Arrow, the Black Canary, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, etc. are all comic book versions of pulp heroes and returning to the wellspring should prove no big leap for audiences.
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
