^I loved Mostly Harmless overall, and maybe it was the closest in tone to a Vonnegut work (The Sirens of Titan was a big influence on the original Hitchhiker's), but the ending was a tad too bleak.

Wow, had no idea they were continuing with the Hitchikers series, will have to check this out. The first was the only book that I've actually laughed out loud when reading it.

Wow, major thread necromancy negs. It's been years since I've reread Hitchhiker's - would reread the entire series every year when I was a teen!

I know a lot of people do that (annual reading of a whole series) with Lord of the Rings, which is hard for me to fathom as a somewhat slow reader.
