I'm looking forward to seeing it, but I'm afraid it might turn out to be another over-praised, nothing special at all horror flick.

The whole marketing strategy of it's limited release "demand it now!" hype is really killing it for me. They even have a lame facebook post saying if they get more than a million people "demanding" a wider release, they will oblige.

I refuse to see it because I am sick of faux documentary shaky cam style movies. Almost everyone I have seen has sucked balls. The only half way decent one I have watched was REC. P.S. Cloverfield had "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" characters that all should have died 20 minutes into the movie.

I've heard it described as "Blair Witch but you get to see stuff" which makes me LESS excited.

I don't know what people here thought about Blair Witch, but I liked it. BUT I liked it BECAUSE of the lack of seeing EXACTLY what happened. What's scarier? Seeing a bag full of teeth, tongue and eyes and wondering just what possibly could have happened, or seeing someone get their head chopped off and then the teeth, tongue and eyes removed? Also, being someone who goes camping, I know it is REALLY easy to get lost (even temporarily) even with a map and compass. Also, some people DO swear that much, ESPECIALLY when confronted with situations like that, so the complaint of 'its just the F word over and over for dialogue' is just complaining about real life dialogue.

I just don't think I'd have been scared of the blair witch if i saw what she looked like...leaving it up to my imagination is that much scarier...

saw this at a midnight show last night, highly recomended, it's not so much a blair-witch that you see stuff, there's not a whole lot that you see which makes it creepier, there are parts where you would expect something to walk by the screen or a a classic quiet moment scare, but nope, you'll get the scares when you least expect it....literally

i went home and couldnt sleep for more than a couple hours at a time, and i'm an adult

I saw it last month at a midnight showing (the beginning of the campaign) here at the Castro Theater in SF. I hate to see the "buzz" campaign executed the way it has been because it does lead to inevitable overhype. Having said that, seeing PA in a theater was extremely satisfying! I found the movie very engaging and, yes, very scary. Atmosphere and building tension and an effective "this is real and you are there" feel. I definitely left the movie feeling a bit haunted and every noise in my apartment that night when I got home gave me the creeps. The audience at the screening had a blast.

My recommendation: stop reading about the hype, if you can see it in a theater, do so. Go in with an open mind and have fun. If you already feel cynical about it, skip it.

Unfortunately everything has the capacity to be overhyped these days. The internet almost lends itself to hype. Having said that looking forward to seeing this and sorry I didn't do one of these "make a flick for $32 and reap a 7million opening weekend" things!

I am a Christian and enjoy horror movies and THE EXORCIST, I believe truly is a GOOD movie. I agree with Mouth and Bryan on this, it really is good. However, like I always say, an opinion is an opinion, and if you don't like it, I respect that. :D

I don't mean to offend anyone, however, I don't think is a place to discuss religion :OT: But please go on with the rest! :D
