Okay, another entry. Now here's one that is a TV show, and I know many love even today. However, which do you enjoy the most? The original 1959 Twilight Zone series, the 1985 series, or the latest 2002 series? I personally enjoy the 1959 series the best since I grew up with it and I truly believe it is far more superior than its remakes or redos or whatever you wish to call them. I love this show uttermost along with The Outer Limits (I will do one of that one soon), and Ultra Q. However, among all of these, this show really stood out because of its amazing and truly weird stories. One thing I truly loved of this series was the iconic theme song, as well the weird and sometimes "cliff hanger" endings. This is one show I think is truly nostalgic!

The horror and scandal attached to the 1982 movie is enough to destroy any enjoyment one could get from it...aside from the fact that it's just plain mediocre, every segment of it.
I don't know of another movie that can move me to such anger.

Landis and production company were cleared of manslaughter charges, but I'm unclear if any they were found guilty of any other charges, after all the finger pointing and blame was passed around, or what civil cases resulted. *

How and why he still had a career after that debacle is a mystery.

Actually, there are several individuals in the production that share just as much responsibility and behaved just as badly. I don't mean to single out Landis here.

It was supposedly Frank Marshall that did the check-signing and wrangling with full knowledge of the illegal and clandestine hiring of the kids... but I digress and regardless, Spielberg distanced himself from the whole affair. He reportedly just wanted to abandon the production but was advised that to do so would be akin to admitting guilt. There were also reports that Spielberg was on set at the time and whisked away, but it appears that it was actually Marshall that was there.

Now, I loved Landis' few movies up until then, knowing his roots in low budget and fandom. Someone I could root for, I couldn't wait to see more from him. That's how a lot of us felt about his movies back then. I've only been able to sit through two Landis movies since TZ...Into the Night and Trading Places. Not so much having to do with TZ, I was ready and willing to forgive, and more likely to forget, but time seems to have made it stand out even more. As far as his stuff since then, nothing I've seen has made an impression. I wish it did.

I really don't have it out for him, I don't have the time for that, in spite of what my posts in this thread may otherwise imply. I clearly remember wanting back then for him to be acquitted, knowing as little as I did at the time. The trial eventually took place, and more facts were revealed. Things got uglier and there was enough ugly to go around for everyone. It's still ugly, and there is no closure.
