Actually, Venture Bros. is in the same continuity as Jonny Quest. Race got killed in the first season, Jonny is a drug addict and Hadji works for Jonas Venture Jr.

With Rodriguez it could go either way. He's made some neat films, he's made some crap - but he's eccentric, goes all in, and I'd rather him then some generic studio hack.

Also: as someone raised on '90s Cartoon Network I'm more receptive to the prospect of a Hanna Barbara shared universe than DC or Marvel.
Bring on Space Ghost, the Herculoids, Frankenstein Jr., and - hell - any chance we could actually get a decent Scooby-Doo movie?

^The tagline kind of points out what's wrong with the approach. A Scooby-Doo movie should actually be scary, a horror film for kids.

The Herculoids could take place in a post-apocalyptic future, but it certainly doesn't take place on Earth. The original show called their planet Amzot and the Space Stars episodes changed the name to Quasar.
If I recall things correctly, Hanna-Barbara did some small scale crossover with their late 60s sci-fi and adventure type shows; off the top of my head Space Ghost, the Herculoids, and Mightor were involved -- I don't recall who else was part of it.
I think WB has an excellent foundation to build on with the Hanna-Barbera sci-fi and adventure/hero shows into a shared universe. Space Ghost, the Herculoids, the Galaxy Trio, and Teen Force could all fit well together as outer space themed shows and if you shift Mighty Mightor to taking place on another planet it works well too. Even the super hero type shows/characters which clearly take place on Earth (Birdman, Young Samson and Goliath, and even Blue Falcon) could work on the bigger picture as they share similar tone except for comedic elements of Blue Falcon (but those can be retained without much of a stretch).

I feel about this like I did with "Speed Racer". For years, I was against a feature-length film on SP. And when it finally came out, critics and movie audiences drew a chill on it. However, I surprisingly liked it! I thought they captured as close as possible, the spirit of the cartoon series. I am hoping "Jonny Quest" will get the same treatment, though Rodriguez's output has not been good of late (so I've heard, since I haven't seen one of his films in a long, long time).

I really want it to be set in the 60s.
I don't think that'll happen, but it'd be great.

Just recently saw this:
http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Jerry-Quest-R ... +jerry+dvdTom & Jerry/ Jonny Quest crossover. Sorry... I think Warner is getting a little out of control with crossing over all their acquired properties
