Despite my hate for remakes, Michael Bay, and Platinum Dunes, I'll be checking this out. I HATED the Texas Chainsaw remake (which has the same director as the new F13), but one of the reasons why was that it felt "too F13"- And if Michael Bay and co. are to remake one of the horror franchises, Friday the 13th is the one tailor fit for them. F13 is about the boobs and the kills. They were NEVER good movies (not even the original), just dumb, trashy fun. Its something that is much more fit for these folks than the Hitcher, Amityville, TCM were. In other words, hell has frozen over and I'm not only looking forward to a remake, but looking forward to a Platinum Dunes remake!

Not to mention that Friday the 13th isn't the groundbreaking, wonderful classic that Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw, etc. is, so there isn't really a high standard for a remake. As long as we get some brutal kills and a bad ass Jason, I'll be happy 8-)

It'll be hard for them to mess this up... then again I said that about Alien vs. Pedator TWICE, so what do I know?

But damnit, I wish Bay and Co. would keep their hands off of Elm Street and the Birds (you don't mess with Hitchcock, especially if you're name is Michael Bay)

Yah I've been hearing some debate about that...some fan boys are upset over what they find to be torture porn like tendencies displayed by Jason in this film...I found it to be....meh...I'm used to the quick, cartoonish violence like in Jason X or Freddy vs Jason but in this film it does seem to tie into the character. Still I see no point in unleashing reality into these kills whatsoever...I was expecting Final Destination styled kills...the type that make you laugh with just how messed up they are...but again...this style fits the new Jason and adds to his menace.

Anyone else hoping to see the return of Zombie Jason in a sequel?...I still want him lean, fast and smart but I like the whole undead aspect personally.

Me and my son went and saw F13 tonight and ......we laughed our butts off! In fact the crowd in the theater were on fire. Everyone was laughing, cheering, the occasional .."I wouldn't do that!" would be blurted out and the whole place erupted. Normally I would be ticked when anyone would be loud during the movie, but tonight it was a laugh/cheer-fest.

**SPOILER ALERT**

And when tough guy was in the cop car and the girl he just --- you know for the sake of the younger readers --- when she crashed through the window and he screamed like a little girl. The whole place just fell apart! I don't think I have had as much fun at a movie in a while.

Typical Friday the 13th -- Just the way I like it! :D

^ Ya know you're right...it was really an nice escape, a fun ride.....someone once said something along the lines of "people go to the movies not wanting to be suprised" or something to that affect...meaning we go to the movies expecting something and wanting a movie to meet those expectations. This film delivered on that and it was fun to boot...people wanted something familiar and fun done right...Jason is a crowd pleaser. I think this recession may kill the torture porn genre...people want to break away from dreary life now...not be reminded of it.

So, spoilers.

...

- The film opens with all the studio logos tinted red, accompanied by the classic "ki ki ki, ma ma ma." Awesome.

- I loved the prologue. It was like a little mini-movie before the actual movie!

- The actress they got to play Pamela here was much better than the one from Freddy vs. Jason.

- I loved the tent/campfire death. Though I thought she had escaped at first when the tent broke; she had been screaming and kicking just a moment before, but then when she fell out she was completely dead.

- How the hell did Whitney survive? When they cut away to the title, Jason had his machete in midswing towards her head... he couldn't possibly have noticed she looked like his mom and stopped his machete that quickly.

- Jason in this movie... wow! He's much faster and smarter (setting traps and using that one guy (I can't remember his name, dur) as bait!) than ever before, but he's still undeniably Jason.

- I chose to use the barn guy's death as my bathroom break opportunity. Apparently that's when Jason found the hockey mask. Damn.

- One thing that annoyed me were the little "stings" of music they kept blasting throughout the movie. Due to the volume in the theater, they scared me more than anything that was happening on-screen.

- Both sex scenes in the movie... uhm, damn.

- Some great deaths in this movie. The aforementioned tent/campfire death, the machete-through-the-pier-(and-head) and the cop's death were awesome.

- I was shocked that they killed Jenna off. I had her pegged as the only survivor (along with Clay). I assumed Whitney was a likelier victim (perhaps acting like Pamela and sacrificing herself so Clay and Jenna could get away).

- They kept bugging me by introducing items that were perfect for Jason to off people with, then not following through. Chewie hands Jason a hockey stick? He gets a screwdriver through the head. The black guy walks by a bugzapper? He gets axed in the back. They wrap a chain around Jason's neck then throw the other end in a wood-chipper? He gets "hung."

- This is probably my biggest gripe of the movie. How the hell do you kill Jason Voorhees off with a wood-chipper and not actually manage to involve the wood-chipper? That's like killing someone with a gun without shooting them. And then, instead of killing Jason how they did and then getting the hell out of there, they actually untangle him from the wood-chipper and chain, carry his body down to the lake, then apparently sit there with it for several hours before finally kicking him into the lake? Remember, Jason was killed during the night, and the sun was up when they dunked him into the lake. What the hell? Everyone else got killed and these retards survived? I was glad when Jason burst up through the pier and grabbed Whitney.

- Speaking of which, Friday 1/3 nod there. Nice.

- Quite possibly the one thing I liked most about this movie was that, even though it was a remake, there's really nothing to stop this from being just another entry in the series. The events of the first film still happened, and there's nothing to suggest the other movies didn't. The only continuity problems I can think of at the moment are that the construction site from Freddy vs. Jason wasn't present... but, hell, that's easy enough. They shut down due to the destruction caused from the fight between Jason and Freddy. There's also the sack/hockey mask thing... but, heck, Jason made the switch once before. Maybe he felt like mixing things up. :P

If you really wanted to try and fit this in to any type of continuity I would place the film somewhere between 2 & intermingled with 3 to a point with the current film ending before the ending of 3.

This movie was more of a reboot than a remake to me though. Kinda like the many reboots of Godzilla in a way.

With a better score and a few more Ki Ki Ki ma ma ma’s , this film could have been a lot more enjoyable. Also, the cinematography drove me nuts. Maybe it was the theatre I saw it in, but everything seemed way to dark. Even the scenes in full daylight. The early Friday films looked much better. Especially Parts 1 and 2 which made me feel like I was right at Camp Crystal lake. They had great atmosphere!

However, I still thought the new film was decent. Jason was seriously awesome here. The characters were the most likable since Part 4. Nice sex scenes also. Perfect nipple placement. Lol!!
