At this point, the negative things Frank Miller has done far outweigh the positive.

I usually don't hate on a movie before I've seen it so it's hard to say just yet, but so far, the Sam Jones TV movie upheld the spirit of The SPIRIT a lot more than this. And Will Eisner hated the Sam Jones one. He'd probably have a better appreciation of it now and is spinning in his grave at what Miller has done to his creation.
I'm curious to see it, just in case it doesn't suck. But there's nothing shown so far that even remotely makes me think this is Will Eisner's SPIRIT. Miller hypes his friendship with Eisner all the time but based on their dialogs together, it's obvious that Eisner felt Miller had no idea how to tell more than one type of story. And that story isn't the sort used to portray The SPIRIT.
Here's a of what the SPIRIT is about and why the movie will likely be a big FAIL to Eisner fans.

The movie EPIC FAIL for soooo many reasons:
1. Gabriel Macht is a horrible horrible choice to play the Spirit.
2. The Spirit's entire outfit in the movie is black; its NOT supposed to be black, except for the mask and shoes - maybe the gloves.
3. Normally I give a movie an extra half star or a full star just for Samuel L. Jackson being in it, but for this I'm already giving it MINUS a star due to him being in it! Incredibly horrible choice for the part of the Octopus.
4. Speaking of Samuel L. Jackson, the outfit he wears in some of the pics I've seen is downright ludicrous. For one thing he looks like a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!", and for another thing the Octopus' appearance is supposed to be mysterious; he was never shown AT ALL in the comics except his gloves, always being shown in shadows or a disguise. They damn well better have Sam Jackson be a disguise!
This and his writing on All-Star Batman & Robin are pretty much proof that Frank Miller has lost his mind, and I hope this movie is a total bomb.

Don't care either way on this flick, but don't post an AICN review of anything. Those guys are idiots, and that particular review was the worst review of any movie I've seen. Didn't specify anything at all. More of a dork with terrets than a critical review.
As far as Miller himself, he probably has "George Lucas-VanHalen" itis. Whereby you were cool when you were younger, but are totally insane with old age, and simply trading on your name for a fast buck.

Man, there are a TON of commercials for this on every channel that I watch. And in each commercial the narrator says "The critics are raving" and then gives a bunch of quotes that all have NO attribution. That smells funny. I guess, "Best Movie of the Year!" -Frank Miller, or "Pulse Pounding excitement" -Frank Miller's accountant just wouldn't sell so they keep the critic's names mum.
29% on the Tomatometer so far, for all the reasons you'd expect.
Oh, and special note to Frank: "I'm on my way" is Dick Tracy's tag line, ya dim bulb.
