Tennant alone was the one thing that got me watching the show in the first place, but now that I've been hooked, I hope to continue on with the series and whoever the 11th Doctor will be.

Aw damn. Well. It was GREAT while it lasted. Heck, it's not even over yet. Still, it will be nice for Moff to be able to start with a clean slate.

*POSSIBLE SERIES 4 SPOILER* (not sure if everyone's seen it yet)
It kind of makes the pseudo-regeneration at the end of Series 4 rather redundant to me. Maybe it would have shaken things up a lot more if he had actually regenerated in the penultimate episode.

^ Let's hope Moffat goes older. At least mid to late forties. But would
the general public accept it?

Most of the rumors right now are swirling around , which would be excellent. He's great at both drama and comedy, has been in sci-fi before (including DW, Rodrick in "Bad Wolf"), was brilliant in Moffat's Jekyll, and on and on.

^People say he's great but all I've seen him in is the first series of new Who where he plays a total A-hole!

Actually, maybe we should consider taking it at face value that the next story (at Christmas) is called "The Next Doctor", and that David Morrissey is rumored to play exactly that in this special, and he's long been in the list of Top 10 names tossed out to be both 10 and 11 (along with others mentioned above like Nighy).
Paterson was great (in fact, somewhat Doctor-like!) as the Marquis de Carabas in "Neverwhere", and he always makes me laugh when he's playing Numberwang! on "That Mitchell and Webb Look". He's very charismatic, and it's early enough in his career that he's probably very available and affordable right now, much like Tennant was when he was cast. As much as I'd like to see a Nighy, Morrissey or a Carlyle, I'm guessing that those factors make them difficult to consider.
I'd lay money down that it'll be Joseph. No matter what, we'll probably find out for sure by next Easter as they gear up to go into production.

^ Alien character or not it reeks of p.c. stunt casting. As would a female playing the part. I'm pretty sick of that mentality be it changing Starbucks gender in the new Galactica(the original had plenty of strong female characters, why bother for chrissake) or Who. Which has reeked of p.c. casting and situations since RTD. If you want to do social experiments in fiction, write good stories with good characters, but changing someone who has had a 40 year history to be trendy is pretty low brow IMO.

Isn't The next Doctor supposed to be about a con man pretending to be the Doctor and the Doctor decideds to play along with it? (oh, and they fight Cybermen)
^I wouldn't mind a female Doctor either.

1-The Doctor's hair and eye color and... um, face have changed completely.
2-Lets assume that this is because random traits from one's long line of ancestors become re-arranged during regeneration.
3-We've seen at least one black Timelord
4-At least one of the Doc's ancestors was balck.
Seems like enough explanation for me.
