Oh wow - I thought someone had already posted about this already.

From the article I read, a complete cut [Lang's original "long" cut] was found in Buenos Aires [IE all the remaining lost footage]. Restoration work is probably happening right now since KINO has already announced that they are going to have the the missing footage in their forthcoming (2009) special edition releases of Metropolis.
