It's funny that the dislike of GINO from us, has become more notable or famous than the movie itself ever was!

Personally, I don't hate GINO as much as I was extremely, extremely disappointed by the whole thing (and those old enough to remember, we had first heard about this project since 1993).

Take away the Godzilla name...suppose it was not a Godzilla movie, and ultimately, it was a decent, if very clichéd movie. Unfortunately for us, the filmmakers came in with a certain arrogance about the whole Godzilla universe.

I'm with Gwangi on this one - Sice the day I saw it, I treated it as a separate monster, with the unfortunate "Godzilla" name tagged on for publicity's sake. Was I disappointed? yes, I was; But not to the extent of hating the character. Zilla was a missed opportunity, and the simple fact that they tried a different perspective on things is probably the reason why the movie felt so uninspired.

Everytime I watch it, it feels like there's a lot missing, because the pieces are there; they just weren't used properly.

So...yeah...ten years ago this day, I was anxiously awaiting my chance to see big G on the big screen....

I saw it at G Con that year with Kenpachiro Satsuma in attendance. He was, to say the least, displeased.

Indirectly related, somewhere I have a pic of him with his arm around me. I say this because he was so strong you could see my frame basically bending. :)

It was ten years ago about this time (not sure of the exact date) that my folks took me to see this movie at the cineplex. At nine years old I had already been exposed to Jurassic Park and the like years before, but I can honestly say that this movie changed my life upon my first viewing. It made me a Godzilla fan, and now ten years later, at 19 years old, I'm posting on this message board. Yep, changed my life.

I still like the movie. I think it's great fun, poorly-made though it is. I have no problem ignoring the "Godzilla" moniker and enjoying it as the campy monster movie that it is.
