Shades of Star Wars in my Indy? Oh no.....
Well, the Indiana Jones trilogy has been airing in HD on several networks recently. It looks beautiful, but there's something not quite right. Seems there's been some CGI trickery going on behind the scenes & it isn't getting the attention i think (fear) it deserves....
Someone (Lucas? Speilberg?) has had the shot where the german jeep falls off the cliff in Raiders digitally "enhanced" (oh how i HATE that phrase...). It appears to be an all new (digital?) matte painting with a new composite, while the live action portion appears to remain unchanged.
Here are comparison shots:
OLD
NEW
While it's a very minor change at this point, it is, imo, completely unnessecary. But, more importantly, it begs the questions "what else will be changed?", and "when will it stop?"!! ARGH!! I'm afraid we may have another Star Wars style fiasco on our hands. I sincerely hope not, but i'm very fearful at the moment....
