^ I agree. For one thing, in ST the Klingon Empire DIDN'T collapse, it gradually became less brutal through Federation pressure.

Best ST movie? ST VI without a doubt. It was a great wrap-up of TOS movies, klingons, political espionage, not to mention some of the coolest lines ever said in a movie

Sulu: Faster. Got to go faster.
Helmsman: We'll fly her apart sir!
Sulu: FLY HER APART THEN!

Spock: I have been dead before

Spock: What you want is irrelevant. What you've chosen is at hand.

McCoy: I'd pay real money if he'd shut up.

It happened once, after explanation, by transporter whiz O'Brien, who knew the systems of the starship he was beaming to because he had been assigned to it for years.

In fact, as I recall, they beam Data onto the Scimitar THROUGH A CLOAK. Not only does a cloak block transporter beams in and of itself, being somewhat based on shield technology, but how does the Enterprise know where to send him? Do they just fling him out into space until they luck out and he doesn't show up on the viewscreen?

Also, Shinzon beamed B-4 back and forth with impunity. Worf must have been asleep at the switch, because in the show he could instantly detect transporter activity.

Well, okay, I understand you now. Yeah, I think STIV is just a tad overrated, as once you get past the initial "funny bits" in the '80s, it seems to drag a bit. But it's a great change of pace, and good ol' fashioned fun.

As for Generations, I also used to think Kirk's death was uneventful, until I saw it enough I just got used to it. Also maybe it says something that he died not out of self-defense (as if he died in a firefight), but he willingly put himself in a dangerous situation to save millions of total strangers (same with Picard).

As for a stock footage explosion, it's news to me. I never noticed it. Come to think of it, how different can one Bird of Prey being destroyed look from another?
