I believe that as well. Parker Posey had some moments were she had some fun dialogue similar to Margot Kidders'. Kate had her moments as well, but I didn't feel that spark, that charm that Margot Kidder had. It was a gift she had, as most of her dialogue felt like it was natural. Kate Bosworth just comes off as overly bitter, kind of in context with the story, but just too much of it....and no in-jokes like Margot's Lois had. Heck, little to no humor at all in fact.
I liked Routh's portrayal and even saw some Chris Reeve in him at many points in the movie. The thing is, like some of you've stated, this didn't feel like a full movie, more like a re-introduction.
Brandon Routh had the right idea when playing Superman, though as Clark, he needs more...I dunno, more eccentricity? Reeve's Clark was very nervous, very anxious, very quirky; very nerdy. Routh's Clark was very "new kid in school"-ish, really shy, really insecure, really weak.
The thing that most people don't get is that this movie seems dull for three reasons:
1 - It was too simple - simple plot, simple writing, and simple acting.
2 - The Superman/Clark/Lois/New Guy sub-storyline was just tagged on there - some people don't get how that came to be.
3 - By now, most casual moviegoers are used to something HUGE, some kind of conflict that brings about an epic climax - Superman didn't have many moments to shine, or had some REALLY imposing, recognizable, or interesting villains to fight.
I'm guessing the next time we see Superman on the big screen, Routh's Superman(not counting Justice League), it'll be an entirely different story.
I HOPE WB keeps him around.
