This movie looks great, but I never got to read what Frank Miller did, but I love history and fantasy, and this is about the spartan soldiers fighting the Persians! Cool! Any comments?

As someone with a bit of experience in hoplite-style fighting, I must agree with herr Fitch's comment.
This leaping warrior crap is the same as has infected video games, and for the same reason - current society has produced a generation which thinks such things are normal simply by virtue of their mental inferiority.
Does anyone else listen to Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" and think of "Save the Earth?"

*Psst*, you guys do realise the action, along with the rest of the film, is stylised, right?

Anyway I just got the HC from Amazon a couple of days ago (along with the rather delicious Absolute Sandman  ). I haven't read it yet but I probably will soon, certainly before the movie's out at least (which gives me some time :P ). I've already flicked through it a bit and recognised a lot of panels from the trailer, which is cool.

So yes, I'm looking forward to it. :)

It's unrealistic to compare Troy to 300. Whereas Troy was based on a true story, and was therefore supposed to be realistic, 300 is based on a graphic novel that is very much so a graphic novel in most aspects, including stylized action.

In troy, that's unforgivable. It's a historical film that fails at being real or historical.

300 is a graphic novel movie, in the same vein as Sin City.

^ An animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns would indeed be rather Godly.

Anyway the second 300 trailer just came out and, yeah, I think I just filled the cup. :o :P

I love the look of the Persian Immortals. I'd love to see some pictures of them. I know someone is going to be making a replica of the mask.

I thought the movie was okay. I personally felt the director watched the Chappelle show and decided that everything really does look better in slow motion. This movie just didn't grab me like Sin City did. I liked it but didn't walk away pumped more on the disappointed side.
