Got a surprise today. A blockbuster in my area broke street on the new Star Wars discs. I had a gift card so I picked up Ep IV basically for free. I'm happy to say it looks fine. Not great, certainly not as sharp or bright as the special editions, but good enough to be enjoyable.

Meh... I have a lot of other stuff I have to get right now. My VHS tapes will do just fine for now. I might get them in the future though. Glad to hear they look decent.

Next year is Star Wars' 30th anniversary. I believe a DVD boxed set has been confirmed to be in the works fornext summer/fall. I'd save my money.

As far as I know these DVDs are identical to the first DVD release with the exception of the originals on disc 2.

because he can.
i wonder if he can also keep claiming a new copyright on each progressively different movie.

Watch... in the end he'll re-edit all six films into one, definitive film called Star Wars: Anakin and Luke Skywalker's Happy Fun Time!

You know it's true. Face it.

I'd just wait for the XOproject versions, but who knows if they'll run out of steam or maybe get a CnD from Lucas.

So I'll get this set. I would have been happy with a basic LD > DVD transfer in the first place, and that sounds pretty much like what it is.

I love how on the cover, the unmolested original version is BONUS MATERIAL. HAHAHA

After reading that article about the supposed (and most likely true!) plans for the 30th anniversary boxed set and Lucas' plans to further update and alter the movies YET AGAIN, I made the seemingly rash (though perfectly sane :) ) decision to part with my copy of the 4 disc release of the "special edition" today on my lunch hour and used the money I got from it to purchase the "Gojira/Godzilla, King of the Monsters" release from a local Wal-Mart (money TRULY well-spent if you ask me!). Since I refuse to continue to buy anymore updated versions of the "Star Wars" trilogy, I failed to see the point of continuing to own any release of any version of the "special editions" of the 3 films and am just going to be content in sticking with the DVDs of the original theatrical releases (the ones I've always known and LOVE!) of the original trilogy I already have. This is one fan that Lucas isn't going to be sucking anymore money from :!: :x
