I like Forbidden Planet too, I hope WB changes the box for the upcoming 50th anniversary to look more like the classic FB poster. The preliminary images they sent The Digital Bits look like the Italian poster - right down to the incorrectly colored uniforms...

War of the Worlds.
("Welcome to California" - as one poor soul would wanted to say while greeting the invaders).

Them! and Creature from the Black Lagoon are a close second.

Ah man, there are far too many to mention, but here goes...

War of the Worlds
Earth vs. The Flying Saucers
This Island Earth
THEM!
Beast from 20,000 Fathoms
It came from Beneath the Sea
20 Million Miles to Earth
The Black Scorpion
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Invaders from Mars
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Fiend without a Face
The Crawling Eye
Target Earth
War of the Colossal Beast
The Blob
Hideous Sun Demon

...and I think that's it.

I've always wanted to see THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL but what if I was told by Godzilla fanboys that the movie sucks and is no match for Godzilla movies? What would be your impression?

:D

The first thing that popped into my head was "Them" but then I thought about it a little more...and its a really tough call, even the so called "bad" sci-fi of the 50s and 60s is really entertaining stuff....

Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers
Them
The Creature from the Black Lagoon
The Thing
The Day The Earth Stood Still
The Blob
The Deadly Mantis
The Monster that Challenged the World
Beast from 20,000 Fathoms
It came from Beneath the Sea
20 Million Miles to Earth
Invaders From Mars

There are so many awesome films listed in this thread. :) I grew up on these movies as much as I grew up on Godzilla.

My absolute favorite is still Them! It takes itself more seriously than most other 50's monster movies and you can tell. The story is awesome and moves along flawlessly. I am still entertained by it to this day.
