LOS ANGELES - Dan Curtis, a producer and director who brought the epic miniseries "The Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance" to television and created the offbeat soap opera "Dark Shadows," died Monday. He was 78. Curtis, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor four months ago, died at his Brentwood-area home shortly after 6 a.m. PST Monday, said Jim Pierson, a spokesman for Curtis' family and for Dan Curtis Productions.
This is terrible. His wife died just 20 days ago and I hope they're both at peace together. I was really hoping that Mr. Curtis would helm just one more DS project. His unique vision of the time was practically a "Buffy" or "Angel" of the 60's. I know his work has really had a profound impact on the genre, including myself as I enjoyed watching DS as a youngster and to this very day. That show was really important to my parents when they were kids, too.
RIP
