I mean, it's nothing huge, maybe minor... Don't remember, but was it discussed in the beginning of the movie how far Skull Island was off from NYC? Was just curious.

the island was never reffered to as 'Skull Island' in neither King Kong nor Son of Kong. It was only called by name in texts while in the movie it's usually called 'Kong's Island" I believe the first time it was called by name was in the animated King Kong television show at the beginning of the "Under the Volcano" episode. As for It's location, all that we know is that is is located due south, 90 degrees east, and is west of Sumatra which runs approximately northwest-southeast, crossing the equator near the center...sorry but I am too tired to do the math.
