Favorite Dinosaur Movies

Dinosaurs...who doesn't love 'em?

So, I'm thinking to myself: man, I love these flicks, so...what are my top 5 favorites? And beyond that, what are the favorites of, oh say, a community like Monster Zero?

Remember, top 5 favorites, and an honorable mention or two.
Here's mine (no particular order)-

One Million Years B.C.: While a historic and scientific headache, OMYBC is still quite entertaining. It's prehistoric beasts are very impressive, and a number of highlights decorate the flick. Of course, Raquel Welch steals the show, but John Richardson is a fun caveman as well.

Jurassic Park: Easily the best dinosaur movie of all time, and I say that with no reservation. And I'm not talking about the sequels, I'm talking about the first movie, and the honest attempt at art that it was. The most realistic dinosaurs to date in a film, as well (JPIII just barely beats it...in terms of realism). As well, it introduces the biggest, most badass Tyrannosaurus of all time :D

Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla 2: Let's be honest, GvsMG2 is the most dinosaur-oriented of all the Godzilla films (even GvsKG '91). Baby and Fire-Rodan were intentionally redesigned to reflect the more updated view of dinosaurs brought on by Jurassic Park. Not to mention, it's certainly one of the better films of the series, or at least the best of the Heisei series (that's a matter of opinion, of course).

Rodan: Okay, so pterosaurs weren't technically dinosaurs, but in terms of "prehistoric monster movies," Rodan certainly deserves consideration. Visually impressive, a badass monster, and a great story. While the budget seems to dry up by the end sequence, it's salvaged by Shigeru's lengthy, yet suprisingly deep, speech.

King Kong: Oh. come on, how could this NOT be on the list? And do I really have to explain? Hopefully, Jackson's version will be somewhere towards the top of my list, come this winter

Honorable Mentions:
-Gorgo: True, it's a British version of Godzilla, but it's SPFX rivaled that of Toho's best at the time. And besides, Gorgo was an awsome creature (or his mother, Ogra, anyway).
-Dinosaur: Despite the bland title, weak script, and having elements lifted directly from Land Before Time, this flick gets points for simply being SO DAMN PRETTY. The best sequence has to be the the Carnotaur attack at the beginning.
-Gojira: Why? First Godzilla flick, arguably the best of the series, and a hell of a scary dinosaur. Why not on my top 5? Just a little too depressing, but still a brilliant flick.

Well, WHAT SAY YOU?!

I liked the movies already mentioned.

I also have fond childhood memories of Dinosaurus.
Sure a little kid and a thawed out caveman riding an apatosaurus is odd.
But a T-rex Vs. a crane is a no brainer. :bouncy:

Or Unknown Island!
It has a sabre-toothed giant sloth as well. :)

My favourites are pretty much the same as everyone else's here:

King Kong
One Million Years BC
Valley of Gwangi
Land that Time Forgot
Dinosaurus

Honourable mentions go to Planet of the Dinosaurs, which has some pretty nifty stop-mo animation, and People that Time Forgot which has Dana Gillespie. :D

It was because of Harryhausen's "One Million Years B.C." that I became fascinated with dinosaurs and fossils and prehistoric life in general. (Not to mention Raquel Welch :D )

Others:
King Kong (1933) Has to be on the list!
Dinosaurus!
The Lost World (1925)
Jurassic Park (Not so much for story but for good use of CGI and animatronics. A rarity these days).
The Valley of Gwangi. How could I not name that one!

Honorable mention:
The People That Time Forgot
Son of Kong (Yes, I liked it very much)
Journey to the Beginning of Time

The Godzilla movies, I wouldn’t exactly call them dino pics, so I left them out.
