So, sorry I've been filling up this thread but I finally finished the Hartnell stories. He is, of the four Doctors I have seen, my least favorite. I still like him a great deal, but Tennant remains my favorite. My biggest issue, well, not really an issue because I understand why the shows were made, but I tend to dislike the purely historical episodes because...I don't care. XD I just want to see running through corridors and alien invasions.

That being said I think from season to season to season that the show is getting better, and here are my top 10 Hartnell stories.
1. The Daleks' Master Plan
2. The Daleks
3. The Dalek Invasion of Earth
4. The Tenth Planet
5. The War Machines
6. The Ark
7. The Chase
8. The Keys of Marinus
9. The Sensorites
10. The Space Museum

I've decided that once I get that BD boxset in I'm going to go through the entire current series again. It's been a few years since I've watched Series 1-current so that's the plan. I might skip The Next Doctor Special just because I really don't care for that and maybe The Lion, The Doctor and Wadrobe christmas special as well.

I recalled really liking The Next Doctor, so much so I'm looking forward to re-watching it.

It's not the worst special but it's not the best. I think The Lion, The Doctor and The Wadrobe is worse than The Next Doctor.

I'm still relatively new to Doctor Who (seen a few first doctor stories, and have watched all of Eccleston and Tennant and just began Matt Smith). But I'm already a major fan. Can't get enough of this stuff!

The wife and I are going to England later this month and I'm so pumped that we're going to get to visit the Doctor Who experience while we're there!! It's more or less a Doctor Who theme park/museum and sounds incredibly fun! Very excited to see props and costumes from the show and take a ride in the Tardis!

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

I'd love to go to one of those Doctor Who experience things, and just the UK in general.

I wish the BBC would announce details on just what theaters will be showing The Day of the Doctor. I'd really like to see it on the big screen, but it's more than likely a 2 1/2-3 hour trip to the nearest place that would show it. Thusly I'd like to have an idea of where it'll be. I guess that's probably going to be revealed near the end of October.

So they found some episodes, and some are 2nd Doctor episodes, which is cool, because I'm kind of early in his stuff (on the Underwater Menace). Though I have to say some of the goofiness and weird things he's said in The Highlanders were really all I needed to like him more than Hartnell. I feel bad about that, but the humor of "I just like the echo" is kind of wonderful.

So apparently the U.S. showing of Day of the Doctor, according to fandango, will be on the 25th.
Which is kind of a let down, I was hoping to see it the same day as the tv broadcasts. So now I'm deciding whether it'll be worth the drive.
There is supposed to be special footage for the screening, maybe that'll be enough to make me go.

You know, I may be in the minority, but I think finding the two missing Pat Troughton stories blows any other 50th celebrations out of the water. I mean, Day of the Doctor could have a Tom Baker cameo and Sylvester McCoy tap dancing - but nothing can possibly be cooler than new Second Doctor episodes!

New "The Day of the Doctor" trailer:

Surprised that around 11 seconds in you can see the Polyphase Avatron in front of the TARDIS.

On vacation in England, I went to the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff yesterday. It was sort of a like a walk-through Disney World type attraction with all kinds of lights and effects and animatronics. Lots of fun. You help save the Doctor who's been trapped by the Daleks. You also encounter some of his other dastardly opponents like the weeping angels and cybermen. You even get to "pilot" the Tardis. And after the attraction is over there is a nice museum full of original (and a few replica when the original wasn't available) props and costumes. Highlights included the original 9th and 10th doctor Tardis console, several original Tardis exterior props including one from the 80's and one from 2006 or so, original costumes for all eleven Doctors, and lots of original villain props/costumes. All in all it was totally worth the ticket price (whatever it was, I don't even remember).

And then tonight we went to Stratford upon Avon to see the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Richard II starring David Tennant! It was loads of fun and the theater is very small and intimate. We sat on the ground floor second row from the back and we were still so close you could almost reach out and touch the actors. Literally. There's only 11 rows (but there's 3 levels) and the stage juts out into the theater with the seats forming a sort of horseshoe around it. Then there's two aisles running from either front corner of the stage diagonally out through the audience. For some scenes the actors would use these aisles to enter or exit the scene so they literally walked through the audience. They were so close they didn't even need microphones (which is good because they didn't use them!). It was great, and the play itself was great, and David Tennant was great. It was a really spectacular experience. And getting to see my favorite Doctor live was top notch, even if he wasn't the Doctor tonight (it was actually quite interesting to see him play a quite different character).

Can't wait to get the BD set tomorrow, Im hoping to get through each series in 5 days or less. I may skip The Next Doctor special because I never cared for that one as well as The Lion, The Doctor and Wardrobe special which is by far the weakest of the Christmas specials.

I really liked The Next Doctor, but A Christmas Carol stands as my absolute favorite Christmas special.
