So do to the 50th special and the Christmas Special series 8 probably won't start till March or April. That's fine by me I just hope they do everything in the spring again. I don't like having each series/season split up into two parts. Sure it means doctor who more during the year but still.

^I didn't midn the way season 6 was split, but the was season 7 was broken up was just messy (and resulted in 2012 giving us only 6 episodes).

I didn't know that I assumed that since they normal start the season around easter we'd get series 8 then. That will suck if we have to wait till autum 2014 for new DW after the Christmas special.

I went ahead and preordered that special edition collection that comes with all 7 series on BD and new extras. Going to sell off my current sets and when the set comes in the sonic screw driver remote since I have no interest in it. I just want the BDs for Series 1-4 and the other stuff remastered in 1080p.

Hopefully when the 50th comes on BD they have a 3D release of it because it is scheduled to appear in 3D in cinemas and on certain channels.

I like that title, I might just rent it off Xbox One to test out the 3D on it assuming they have it that day.

Finally started watching the 2nd half of Series 7. The Bells of Saint John was alright...the whole..wi-fi thing was kind of meh, but Clara is an entertaining companion. I found myself enjoying the Rings of Akhaten a great deal even if I felt like there was really 2 episode's worth of story and development rushed through in one. Cold War was interesting if only to see the Ice Warriors return. Although itkind of turned into a typical Alien scenario in which a monster is on a vessel and the people are trying desperately to survive. I did like the cold war setting.

Bahahaah I loved Hide so much! Easily my favorite of this Series! Though I've only watched like 10 minutes of the Stone Tape I got a pretty strong vibe from the set up in the house. I think I'll probably try and watch the whole of the Stone Tape as part of my Halloween viewings this year.

The Center of the TARDIS was alright. The name almost indicated something more epic. I thought it was an alright episode, but otherwise forgettable.

The Crimson Horror was again, just alright, but so much of the interactions (the daughter beating her mother, the leech creature) and seeing Vastra, Strax, and Jenny made it all the much more fun.

"You have failed in your mission!" "This is the fourth time this week and I'm not even hungry!" The Thomas Thomas joke was a little...too much, in a way, but whatevs I still laughed.

I watched Nightmare in Silver and The Name of the Doctor. I liked The Name of the Doctor even if I felt like it was kind of...weird, narratively. Like, I dunno, a lot of Moffat's stuff seems to make it feel like it should be this awe inspiring moment of ZOMG but it never quite gets there. I like the Whispering Men though.

Nightmare in Silver was a disappointing. The kids were awful. Especially Angie. I was kind of excited knowing it was a Gaiman written episode and it had Cybermen, but overall it was simply alright. Still very stoked for the 50th Anniversary special. I kept reading it was going to be given a small theatrical run worldwide (or at least in the UK and the US) has there been any more info on this? I'm sure it'd be a drive for me, but it seems like it'd be fun to see on the big screen.

^Moffat has a tendency, especially with his season finales, to set things up like they're going to lead to a giant Davies-style all-out monster battle explosion fest, and then twist it around and give you a little intimate story where the big reveals you were expecting don't mean at all what you thought they'd mean. When it works well, it can be absolutely breathtaking, but other times, it feels like a bit of clever in the midst of a bunch of cheating. For Name of the Doctor, I love the way that the literal name is spoken in-story but not revealed to the audience, and the title of the episode ends up referring to something more abstract, which opens up a whole new story. However, we also end up with an anti-climactic (apparent) resolution of the Great Intelligence thread, and some really under-explored material involving the state of River and the Doctor's relationship.

Well, I liked that the Doctor's name wasn't revealed as well, but I just..I dunno, the Great Intelligent never felt like a threat. He just felt tacked on, when Trenzalore was really the main attraction.

Anyway, I'm on a Doctor Who kick. I'm trying to make my way through classic Who in earnest (I tried back in 2007 and only managed to finish the first 2 seasons), I'm also revisiting the latest batch of seasons. I'm on Season 28, or Series 2, and man..I really love this season. So many cool things. School Reunion, The Girl in the Fireplace (which is effectively rehashed in a less successful manner for 11's first season), Impossible Planet/Satan Pit, etc. I really dig the 10th Doctor as well.

Also, does Hartnell remind anyone else of Yoda? Specifically when Yoda is first messing with Luke on Dagobah?

I'm really looking forward to leaving the Hartnell era. I've always wanted to see the other Doctors doing stuff, but I'm sort of weird about continuity. I think the reason I was able to start with Eccleston's era is that there isn't a direct handoff. I'm especially excited to get to the Tom Baker era since I've heard so many good things.

So I've been looking into buying some DW DVDs, I pretty much only have the new stuff and of the Classic Stories I have up to The Aztecs. Anyhow, I'm pretty overwhelmed by these releases and the fact that many of them seem to be out of print and going for crazy prices. I thought, when I saw Spearhead from Space on blu-ray that maybe I'd just collect the blu-ray releases as they come out, but apparently its missing a number of older special features. :/
Wat do?
I really just wish BBC would release boxsets by season or Doctor. It feels like it'd be easier to get these stories.
