^Moffat has a tendency, especially with his season finales, to set things up like they're going to lead to a giant Davies-style all-out monster battle explosion fest, and then twist it around and give you a little intimate story where the big reveals you were expecting don't mean at all what you thought they'd mean. When it works well, it can be absolutely breathtaking, but other times, it feels like a bit of clever in the midst of a bunch of cheating. For Name of the Doctor, I love the way that the literal name is spoken in-story but not revealed to the audience, and the title of the episode ends up referring to something more abstract, which opens up a whole new story. However, we also end up with an anti-climactic (apparent) resolution of the Great Intelligence thread, and some really under-explored material involving the state of River and the Doctor's relationship.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.
