Personally, I prefer Batman Begins, but this movie is truly remarkable. For a film that's almost 3 hours long, the thing moves along pretty briskly. They packed so much story into The Dark Knight, but it all works. This is definately the water-mark, when it comes to making superhero movies. However, if I had any qualms about the movie, I'd have to say that it was ridiculously cold. I know, that's the whole idea behind the story, but for me, it makes it a bit difficult to enjoy what I'm watching, which is why I'm partial to Batman Begins. It is a really good movie, and it's fun to watch. The Dark Knight, on the other hand, is just depressing, from start-to-finish. And LIKE I SAID, I understand that this is what Christopher Nolan and co. were going for, but I find it a little hard to swallow when the hero of the movie winds up being chased down by dogs at the end. Honestly, I didn't care for any character in the entire movie, except for the most dark, twisted, depressing, and truly evil one. And despite the fact that Heath Ledger died just as the film was finished, I don't care what anybody says, The Dark Knight would not be nearly as...acceptable I guess, for lack of a better word, had Ledger not given such a brilliant performance. His Joker is truly the apex of movie villians. And even if he had not passed on, people would still be praising him for what he did in this movie.
Yeah, The Dark Knight is the best of its kind. There is no doubting that. "Not your grandfather's Batman," to be sure. I think, if anything though, that might have been my problem with it.
