Personally, I prefer Batman Begins, but this movie is truly remarkable. For a film that's almost 3 hours long, the thing moves along pretty briskly. They packed so much story into The Dark Knight, but it all works. This is definately the water-mark, when it comes to making superhero movies. However, if I had any qualms about the movie, I'd have to say that it was ridiculously cold. I know, that's the whole idea behind the story, but for me, it makes it a bit difficult to enjoy what I'm watching, which is why I'm partial to Batman Begins. It is a really good movie, and it's fun to watch. The Dark Knight, on the other hand, is just depressing, from start-to-finish. And LIKE I SAID, I understand that this is what Christopher Nolan and co. were going for, but I find it a little hard to swallow when the hero of the movie winds up being chased down by dogs at the end. Honestly, I didn't care for any character in the entire movie, except for the most dark, twisted, depressing, and truly evil one. And despite the fact that Heath Ledger died just as the film was finished, I don't care what anybody says, The Dark Knight would not be nearly as...acceptable I guess, for lack of a better word, had Ledger not given such a brilliant performance. His Joker is truly the apex of movie villians. And even if he had not passed on, people would still be praising him for what he did in this movie.

Yeah, The Dark Knight is the best of its kind. There is no doubting that. "Not your grandfather's Batman," to be sure. I think, if anything though, that might have been my problem with it.

[quote]EXCLUSIVE: Michael Caine Says Johnny Depp Is The Riddler, Philip Seymour Hoffman Is The PenguinPublished by Casey Seijas on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 12:58 pm.
It’s one of the biggest — and most hotly debated — questions in fandom…which actors (and characters) will director Christopher Nolan enlist as a villain for his third “Batmanâ€

Hmmm... well, that's interesting I suppose. Hopefully the Penguin is just a crime boss and not some penguin-man running for mayor of Gotham! It would also be interesting to see what Depp could do. But really, in terms of story I don't know how you top the events surrounding the Joker in TDK.

Not only would Hoffman totally be up for the role of the Penguin, but he gets it

Hoffman: 'I'd Love To Play The Penguin'

9 September 2008 3:11 PM, PDT

Philip Seymour Hoffman is thrilled he's among the names in contention for Batman villain The Penguin, because he has always wanted to play the comic book bad guy.

Despite The Dark Knight star Michael Caine's confirmation that the Capote star has already landed the role, Hoffman insists he's yet to be officially offered the part - but he can't wait for the phone call.

He tells TheStoneReport.com, "I grew up a comic book fan, so I love that stuff. I love going to that stuff. I think what they're doing with that whole Batman story is really true to what that whole Batman thing has always been.

"It's one of the darkest origins of a superhero, to get all nerdy and geeky on you. That character sees his parents gunned down as a young child. I remember when I was a kid reading that story, so seeing it now come to life as the dark tale that it really is intense, really dark, very visceral."

Warner Bros. Plans Dark Knight Rerelease
Source:The Hollywood Reporter
September 11, 2008

Warner Bros. Pictures plans to rerelease blockbuster The Dark Knight in January, the height of Academy Awards voting season, says The Hollywood Reporter.

"It's just a matter of bringing it back as a reminder for people," a source told the trade.

Warners domestic distribution president Dan Fellman acknowledged ongoing talks with IMAX executives about the prospect of restoring the film to some number of giant-screen venues in January. It's uncertain if The Dark Knight also will reappear in conventional theaters at that point.

To date, the film has earned about $513 million domestically and $440 million internationally, including more than $55 million in IMAX grosses. The DVD and Blu-ray Disc are expected to hit stores in December.

Yep, at this rate, The Dark Knight will be the all-time box-office champ!

Despite its negative effects on the genre (all this "reboot" hoopla), it's just cool to see a superhero movie make it out on top. Ah, just to see the looks on Hollywood's faces when the once-embarrassing superhero genre crushes their own champions. :D
