Kudos to you Mouth for brining up this excellent point. Most "Imax" screens today are anything but. I know some people that work at a proper Imax theater in a museum...I know it's a source of frustration for the IMAX company right now because it's diluting their brand.

If you guys ever see a movie on a proper IMAX screen it's awesome. It's much cooler than 3D in my opinion.

Thanks for the info! And it's exactly what I feared. looks like I'll be making a bunch of phone calls to (hopefully) find the real deal in my area.

Oh, & just as an FYI... I don't know if this has an effect on the issue of converted theaters, but while IMAX film is 70mm, it's still quite different than typical 70mm film. Normally when you talk about film in any size (16mm, 35mm, 70mm), you're talking about the width of the film. But for real IMAX, they took 70mm film & turned it sideways so that 70mm is now the height of the film.

Hey thanks. I had actually found those articles and lists but hadn't had time to post them yet. And YES! There's a REAL IMAX theater about 30 minutes from me showing this on proper IMAX film.

And totally agree with others, I saw TDR on a proper IMAX twice & there is just nothing else that comes close to that experience. I'd be willing to drive 2 or 3 hours for it if I had to...

The Ontario Place theater is a great place to see IMAX. It's been there since the 1970's.

I don't know how many times I've watched the Dark Knight. I think I've watched it at least once a year. Not that that would change much. I usually watch films a ton when I first get them on home video, and then I just watch them whenever. It's not even the length, it's the fact I have a bajillion DVDs. The Godzilla stuff really gets watched the most.
