This is going to be another movie like Prometheus, where there has been so much build up that everyone has their mind made up about what they think it needs to be. Truth is, if this movie turns out to be a solid flick, but isn't as good as the Dark Knight, or hell, isn't even as good as Batman Begins, there WILL be a lot of backlash.

With a movie like the Avengers, that had more hype, I think (as much as I like that film) that its so non-offensive and doesn't really try any ideas outside of the box, that everyone came out happy.... not a bad thing by any means, that movie was perfect for what it was, but it was made to be nothing but a crowd pleaser. I feel like Prometheus and TDKR are playing with fire in that they are movies that are branching off of well known classic films (yes face it, TDK has already been elevated to classic status) and toying around more with those characters and ideas more... both will be met with a lot of hate and a lot of love for how bold they are.

As I've been saying in the Prometheus thread, go in with a clean slate and judge the film on its own merits.

I think I'd give this film more of a pass because it's ending a story. Not promising to begin a story and then actually merely as a prologue to a begining film that we may or may not get some day. That's what pisses me off the most about Prometheus...not neccesarily the quality of the film itself.

Take the Batman: The Animated Series first episode featuring Clayface and turn it into a movie. It's the exact type of tone I'd want for any reboots. Echoing others: Out there enough to be fun and feature some of the stranger villains (Man-Bat, Killer Croc, CLAYFACE) but still somewhat serious and slightly grounded.
